Project Description:
Concrete was spalling underneath exterior
stairs. This is caused by water soaking into the
concrete and corroding the rebar which then
expands breaking off a piece of concrete.
We repaired the spalling concrete by chipping
all the bad concrete out and exposing the
corroded rebar. We then cleaned the rebar and
coated it with zinc to prevent it from rusting
again. After the coating cured we applied an
overhead repair mortar.
To prevent the concrete from spalling in the
future a waterproofing coating applied to the
top of the surface will prevent water from
soaking into the concrete.
